Breast
Augmentation
(Augmentation Mammaplasty)
Breast augmentation is
a very
popular procedure for women and among the most commonly performed
cosmetic surgery procedures. Dr. Di Giuseppe performs breast
augmentation using the following breast implants:
Anatomically
Shaped Breast Prosthesis
These kind of "tear drop"
implants are specifcally indicated in patients carrying an atrophic
breast, after feeding. These are made with the same cohesive gel
of the round shaped implants. They fill the lower pole of the
breast, giving an excellent projection and shape, which appears soft and
natural-looking. Breast tissue oedema remains for 7-10 days, scars
are nearly invisibles, by time. Results appear natural and good
looking, also the consistency of the breast is similar to the original
breast.
Silicone
Gel Breast Implants
The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has determined that new
gel-filled implants, at the present time, should be available only to
women participating in approved studies. Some women requiring
replacement of the implants may also be eligible to participate in the
study

Breast
Lift
(Mastopexy)
Over time, the effects of
gravity along with the loss of the skin's natural elasticity begin to
have an effect on the appearance of a woman's breasts.
These
factors, combined with pregnancies and nursing, will often cause the
breasts to lose their youthful shape and firmness.
A breastlift, or mastopexy, is a surgical
procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts. The procedure can
also reduce the size of the areola (the darker skin surrounding the
nipple). Breast implants inserted in conjunction with a mastopexy
procedure can increase both firmness and size.

Breast
Reduction With Ultrasound
(Reduction Mammaplasty)
This technique was first introduced by
Prof. Alberto Di Giuseppe with other colleagues, and now it is used all
over the world. It consents to reduce breast volume by
emulsification of breast fat and subsequent aspiration.
The ideal candidate for a breast
reduction with ultrasounds are those patients with juvenile breast,
which are usually characterized by mostly fatty parenchyma, with a good
skin tone and elasticity.
Preoperative mammagrams are necessary to
evaluate the nature and consistency of the breast tissue, thus helping
the selection of the ideal candidate. The great advantage that the
technique provides is a minimal scar, 1.5 cm long at the submammary
crease, with a nice shape and contour of the reducted breast. Long
term mammagrams evaluation of the operated breast has showed the safety
of this technique.

Male
Breast Reduction
(Gynecomastia)
Although
rarely discussed, enlarged male breasts is a common condition.
Gynecomastia affects approximately 40 to 60 percent of men. There
is no known cause for gynecomastia, although there has been some
correlation with various drugs or medical conditions.
Men who feel self-conscious about their
appearance are helped with breast-reduction surgery. The procedure
removes fat and/or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in extreme
cases removes excess skin, resulting in a contoured chest that is
flatter and firmer.

Breast
Reconstruction
Reconstruction of the breast
after a mastectomy due to cancer or other disease is quite possible
with today's surgical procedures. The procedure is often covered
by many HMOs after breast cancer surgery and legislation is currently
before Congress to enact mandatory coverage. Using the newest
medical techniques, a plastic surgeon is often able to create a breast
that is similar in form and appearance to that of the natural breast. A
consultation will provide you with information on the many available
options for post-mastectomy breast reconstruction.
