Face & Neck
Dr. Di Giuseppe
is able to enhance
or refine areas of the face and neck for both women and men using surgical procedures and chemical
treatments. Adjustments can also be made for congenital
deformities (birth defects) and abnormalities resulting from accidents
or diseases.
Facelift
(Rhytidectomy)
Over time, the long-term effects of gravity, exposure to sun, dry air, and
general stress takes its toll on an individual's face and
neckline. Jowls can develop under the jawline with folds and fat
deposits. Sometimes creases begin to form between the nose and the
mouth.
A facelift can considerably reduce these signs of aging
by removing excess fat, tightening the underlying muscles, and redraping the
skin around the neck and face. Facelifts can be done alone, or
frequently performed in
conjunction with another procedure such as a browlift, eyelid
surgery, or nose reshaping. If your problem areas are limited to the
neck, a more conservative procedure, known as a "necklift"
will be recommended. In some cases, a facelift can reduce the
outward signs of aging by ten or fifteen years.

Forehead
Lift
(Browlift)
A forehead lift or "browlift"
is used to correct a drooping browline (eyebrow area) reducing the
horizontal lines and furrows (worry lines) that often make a person appear angry, sad or
tired. The procedure creates a refreshed, youthful appearance to the
forehead area
above the eyes.
When performing a forehead lift procedure, muscles and tissue areas that
droop or cause creases are removed or corrected to smooth the skin on the
forehead to reduce frown lines and raise the eyebrows.
There are two surgical methods, and during your initial consultation the procedure
that works
best for you will be recommended. The first is the most conventional
method where a surgical incision is hidden just above the
hairline. Browlifts are also performed using an endoscope which
enables the procedure
to be performed with a minimal number of incisions. While the
traditional method can sometimes attain more
lift, both methods create smoother, flatter skin on the forehead.

Eyelid
Surgery
(Blepharoplasty)
Eyelid surgery
(blepharoplasty) is
designed to remove excess
skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids. The procedure can correct drooping upper lids
that tend to sag with time and the puffy bags below the eyes. The
procedure usually takes about 1 hour and can be performed in the
office using local anesthesia. Stitches can be removed after three
or four days. Blepharoplasty can be done as a single procedure, or in conjunction
with other facial surgery such as a facelift or a browlift.

Surgery
of the Nose
(Rhinoplasty)
Surgery to reshape the
nose, (rhinoplasty) is among the most common plastic surgery procedures.
This procedure can reduce or increase the size of the nose, remove an
unwanted hump, change the
shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the width of the nostrils, or
change the angle between the nose and the upper lip. The procedure
is also used to correct problems resulting from injury and can help relieve
certain breathing difficulties.

Lip
Enhancement
Full and vivacious lips have always been
recognized as aesthetically important features. Some of us
however, are born with thin, ill-defined lips. But the appearance
of our lips is now within our control. During this procedure, a
piece of tissue is borrowed from somewhere in your body and grafted into
one or both lips.

Surgery
of the Chin
Chin surgery can change the shape of the
chin to reduce a prominent chin or to extend the chin from the face.
The contour of the chin can be reshaped to be smoother, or more angular in
appearance.

Liposuction
of the Neck and Chin
(Tumescent Liposuction)
When the tumescent technique is used in the
liposuction of your neck and chin, the areas of fat are injected with an
anesthetic which causes the fat to become swollen, or
"tumesced". The resulting expanded molecules make the fat
particles easier to remove. You will begin to notice the difference
in your new look almost immediately after surgery. The tumescent
method results in less post-operative bruising, swelling and
pain. A significant improvement in your appearance is apparent
within 3 weeks of your surgery, when most of the swelling has
subsided.

Collagen
Injections

second layer of skin known as the dermis (the first layer is
called the efidermus). It is injected under the dermis
layer to add fullness to areas of the face such as the lips, cheeks and
forehead.

Soft
Tissue Facial Implants - Alloderm
When a significant amount
of soft tissue is lost, either due to injury or disease, serious
problems can develop. Replacing the damaged or missing tissue
with AlloDerm, a real human tissue, results in a quicker recovery time
with less complications. Using AlloDerm, for implantation
purposes, reduces the likelihood of rejection, which can happen when a
foreign substance is placed into the body. AlloDerm has an
extremely safe eight year history,

Otoplasty
Otoplasty, or ear pinback, is done to correct
protruding ears. Although commonly performed on adults, it also happens
to be one of few cosmetic procedures that may also be performed on children.
An incision is placed in the natural creases
behind the ear and the cartilage of the ear is weakened so that it bends into
a new shape. Sutures are also placed internally to maintain the ear in its'
new position.
Recovery normally takes one to two weeks.
The changes are usually faily dramatic and be seen immediately, although the final
result may not be seen for a few months.
