Treatment
of Skin Cancer and Skin Lesions
Once your dermatologist or doctor detects
a cancerous growth on your face it needs to be removed. Removal
and follow-up care is only part of the treatment. Your face must
be restored to its original beauty and function and often the special
flaps and techniques that Dr. Di Giuseppe uses are needed to achieve
this.

Corrective
Jaw Surgery
(Orthognathic
Surgery)
One or both jaws may grow
too little or too much. This resulting abnormality may result in
difficulties with speech, chewing or the ways your teeth align.
The lips and tongue may be forced too much in unnatural ways.
This will have long term oral health effects and affect your jaw joint
(TMJ). When this problem exists, you may need Corrective Jaw
Surgery. Dr. Di Giuseppe's surgery is usually done in conjunction
with Orthodontics (braces). The surgery involves moving one or
both jaws into a more harmonious and balanced relationship. The
effects of this surgery not only improve oral health but also improve
and balance facial aesthetics as well. Ancillary procedures of the
cheeks, nose, chin and neck may also be done at the same time.

TMJ
( Temporomandibular Joint ) Surgery
When muscles and joints don't
work properly, muscles will often go into spasm and cramp. If you have
tenderness and pain around the muscles of the jaw or notice a decrease in
how much your jaw opens you may have a TMJ problem. A clicking or popping
or a jaw getting locked open or closed may also occur. In some instances
if other modalities have failed, Dr. Di Giuseppe may be able to help you.

Facial
Fractures and Lacerations
No one ever wants to be in an
accident or a victim of a dog bite but these unfortunate events do occur.
In this unfortunate scenario, trust your face to a surgeon with additional
expertise in both the hard tissues (bone and cartilage) as well as soft
tissues (skin, muscle and nerve) of the face. Dr. Di Giuseppe's
understanding of the face as well as his aesthetic eye will help to
restore your face.

Scar
Revisions
Healing is an unpredictable
process since there are many forces at work. After a scar has fully
matured and is not changing in appearance any more (usually after one
year) Dr. Di Giuseppe can often improve its appearance by special flap and
suturing techniques. Some scars can inhibit normal functioning of the face
and this can be improved as well.

Cleft
Lip and Cleft Palate
Many children are born
each year with Cleft Lip and or Cleft Palate. A Cleft Team that brings
together many resources best manages these children. Dr. Di Giuseppe is
a member of this team that will help restore your child's face.

Facial
Neurosurgery
There are many nerves in our face that
are responsible for both movement and feeling. Often as a result of
previous surgery, cancer, accident or birth defect these nerves do not
work properly. Depending on the situation involved, Dr. Di Giuseppe may
be able to help improve the function of the nerve.

Facial
Reconstruction
Working with specialists in the Medical
and Dental fields Dr. Di Giuseppe has performed many reconstructions of
the face and jaws. Jaw reconstruction involves adding bone to the jaws
that has melted away over time or has been lost to cancer or accident.
In addition, bones of the face may be enhanced through the use of
implants to the chin, cheek, nose and jaw. Facial recontouring
involves the removal of bone that is excessive in nature. Again all of
these procedures are performed to restore facial harmony.

Cosmetic
Revision of Previous Surgery
Unfortunately one doesn't
achieve the desired result in Plastic Surgery. For whatever reason this
occurs, the patient need not feel the result is permanent. Dr. Di Giuseppe
is often very able to revise and correct the results of previous surgery
whether it was performed for a cosmetic or reconstructive reason. Very
often minor revisions or non-surgical treatment may remarkably improve the
result. Areas that can be enhanced from previous surgery include the face,
breast and body.

Snoring
Treatment
According
to the American Sleep Disorders Association, nearly 45% of normal adults
snore occasionally, while as many as 25% are habitual snorers. Chronic,
heavy snoring is more common in males and in overweight individuals.
The
situation tends to worsen with age.
Office based laser
surgery in the form of Laser Assisted Uvulo-Palatoplasty (LAUP)
represents one of the newest and most effective methods for the
treatment of chronic snoring. Over the course of up to 5
treatments of LAUP an immediate reduction in
snoring is seen, with a significant improvement occurring after the second
session. An overwhelming majority of patients
significantly reduce or virtually eliminate snoring. The success rate for Laser
Assisted Uvulo-Palatoplasty (LAUP) nationwide is approximately 85 - 90 %.
